25th – 29th October: Cafe Oto are showing the winners of the long established annual competition, of the most beautiful swiss books.

The competition has been running since 1943, when a jury of 5 experts selected the 25 most beautiful or best executed books. This year, a jury selected 32 “Most Beautiful Swiss Books” from 2008 on the basis of their quality in terms of design, typography and overall conception. Innovation and originality are also important factors, while the use of material and printing techniques are also considered. Mmmm.

Opening party: Sunday 25th October 7pm with guest speaker Laurenz Brunner.

Thursday 29th October 7.30pm: ‘Superlatives in book design’: round table discussion with experts from the field of book design.
