Arietta Type Specimen & Process Book

I’m fairly sure I’ve seen this pop up somewhere before, but I fortunately stumbled across Abi Huynh’s specimen book for Arietta today and it is so lovely it makes my heart sing.

101 Cookbooks

Not strictly design-related but I wanted to bring one of my favourite websites into the light. 101 Cookbooks is home to the recipes of Heidi Swanson. Her dishes always looks so good, partly due to the piles of amazingly fresh ingredients she uses, but definitely helped to shine by all her beautiful photography. If you’re [...]

Erin Nicole Johnson

Ms Erin Nicole creates just the kind of photography I love to look at. It’s down to earth with a sense of wonder at the little things and just enough weirdness to make it a little creepy. The Stills and Personal Work are my favourites. Definitely a website to watch: www.mserinnicole.com.

Fifty People, One Question

A nice, if a little long-winded film, where the makers asked people if they could wake up anywhere tomorrow, where would it be? There’s also a version in Brooklyn which you can check out here. I found it rather lovely how many people said simply, in their own bed.

Obama Ninja Action Figure

I suppose it was only a matter of time.

Simon Høgsberg

Just saw this on FormFiftyFive but it’s brilliant and deserves another post. A 100-meter long photograph by Simon Høgsberg, commenting on the uniqueness of ordinary people. Have a look at it here.

Rune Guneriussen

What is it about pretty twinkling lights in the darkness? I have no idea but it makes some magical photography, as this work by Rune Guneriussen demonstrates.

The English Language

A simple, entertaining poster designed by American-born Michael Ciancio after his stay in Europe. The limited edition five colour silkscreen prints are currently on sale through his website.

Creative Studio

Like many other designers I’m sure, I occasionally feel that inevitable wave of depression when I think of how much time I spend in front of my computer. I used to love drawing so I couldn’t help but smile when I saw this installation created by Emma Smart: her Creative Studio consists of a paper [...]

Dutch Ecofont

I happened to be flicking through a magazine while visiting my parents and found a small article on a new type of font, specifically designed to be more eco-friendly. The idea being that by placing small holes throughout the letters you can save up to 20% of ink when printing. According to the creators Spranq, it’s designed [...]
